An Irish group with two Mayo members is tipped to secure their spot as a support act for Oasis.

Fontaines D.C. have had a hugely successful year, from playing at Glastonbury to releasing a new album, and the good times are expected to keep coming.

Conor Deegan III from Crimlin outside Castlebar, and Tom Coll from Castlebar make up two fifths of the post-punk band, who formed in Dublin in 2014.

Multiple outlets are now reporting that the group will join Oasis on their highly-anticipated ‘Live ‘25’ reunion tour.

A source told the Daily Mail that ‘talks’ were ongoing with Fontaines D.C. around supporting the recently reunited band on next year’s UK and Ireland tour.

Furthermore, Rolling Stone Australia named the Irish act as ‘likely’ to fill the tour’s support slot.

This role wouldn’t be the first interaction between the pair of bands, as Fontaines D.C. supported Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher in Cornwall in 2019.

As well as this, the 51-year-old rock singer revealed in a tweet last year that the Irish group were his son Gene’s favourite band.

Oasis are no strangers to Ireland, with their mother Peggy being a native of Charlestown.

A Charlestown pub owner, whose tavern has been frequented by the Gallagher brothers on several occasions, has said he hopes the newly reunited musicians will visit him next year.

“I’d be delighted to have the two of them play again or come in for a cup of tea or a drink or something like that, I’d be delighted to have them. They are very nice lads, and they are good friends of mine, they have been good friends of mine. They have complimented my pub a few times in the paper and stuff like that. As far as I’m concerned I’m delighted to see them back,” pub owner JJ Finan told The Mayo News.

The long-awaited sold-out concerts will take place in Croke Park on August 16 and 17 2025.
