Ireland West Airport Knock was the wettest and coldest location in Ireland during the month of July.

Additionally, the data released by Met Éireann for July revealed that Knock Airport had the highest amount of rain days in the month, with 24 days of wet weather.

It wasn’t just the regional airport that saw wet weather, as Belmullet and the airport both recorded a rainfall amount which was 102 percent higher than their 1981-2010 long-term average. Nearly all other locations’ rainfall totals were below their long-term average.

According to the data, Belmullet also recorded the second-lowest amount of hours of sunshine for the month, with Gurteen in Sligo seeing the lowest figure.

Overall, July 2024 had an average temperature of 14.77 degrees celsius, 0.59 degrees below the 1981-2010 long term average.

Despite being the coldest July since 2020, the month recorded 121.9 millimetres less rain than last July.
