Balla town park
The Balla Woodlands Park Enhancement Scheme has gone to tender.
Cllr Donna Sheridan has welcomed the news, and shared that it is hoped a contractor will be appointed at the end of August, after which work willcommence.
The project, which was funded by Minister Heather Humphreys under the Town And Village Renewal
Scheme, was allocated €120,000 to develop a community park in Woodlands and a community and
enterprise hub in the vacant courthouse building.
Balla CRD provided €4,000 toward the projects, and Castlebar Municipal District allocated €10,250.
Cllr Sheridan explained that the work on the courthouse building is now complete and is set to open ‘very soon’.
“This is a fantastic addition to Balla. I am delighted to see that the Woodlands Park Enhancement
Scheme is going to tender. I met with residents some time ago, and it was agreed we need to do major work on this area,” she added.
The Castlebar Municipal District Cathaoirleach expressed her gratitude to the residents' committee in
Woodlands, Balla CRD and Balla Tidy Towns, as well as all the team in the Castlebar MD for their help
and work on the project.
Cllr Sheridan concluded: “The layout of the scheme was designed and changed based on two
consultation meetings with local residents in Balla. It is hoped that a contractor will be appointed at the end of August and work will commence.”
