Work on four one-bedroom social houses will begin in Castlebar this week.
Minister of State Alan Dillon TD has welcomed the commencement of a new housing project in Lower Charles Street at the heart of Castlebar town.
The plan involves the demolition of two dilapidated properties and the restoration of the existing terrace on Lower Charles St, seamlessly integrating with and adjoining a protected structure.
Minister Dillon disclosed that the contract for the project has been granted to Finna Construction, a firm located in Cross, Cong.
The project is slated for completion in July 2025.
Minister Dillon thanked the team at Mayo County Council who are managing the development in-house.
“This project, alongside the Ellison Street regeneration plan converting old derelict buildings into 12 one and two-bedroom apartments, will undoubtedly contribute to the town’s revitalisation,” he said.
