Body of woman believed to be in her 60s taken to Mayo University Hospital after drowning at popular West Mayo swimming destination
A woman has died after drowning at Old Head Beach near Louisburgh.
The woman, believed to be in her 60s, was wearing a wetsuit after she was taken from the water after the alarm was raised at approximately 4pm today.
Members of Westport and Louisbrugh Order of Malta were amongst those who attended the scene and gave their assistance.
The deceased woman's body has been conveyed to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar.
