WESTPORT Credit Union is delighted to announce the recipients of its inaugural community fund. They launched the fund earlier in the year to support local projects that benefit the communities within their common bond.

Out of the 79 applications received, 21 exceptional projects have been selected based on their potential to make a significant positive impact on the community.

The selection process for the Community Fund was rigorous, with each project evaluated on its potential community impact, alignment with the Credit Union ethos and readiness for completion.

Speaking of the announcement, Chairman of Westport Credit Union, Tommy Gill, said: “We are delighted to support so many community projects in our common bond. The funding will ensure that they can continue the work they do in our community.”

CEO of Westport Credit Union, Pauline Ryan, added: “We received a huge number of applications for the community fund, it was fantastic to see such an interest from local clubs and groups. The decision-making process was very difficult as there were lots of very worthy projects, each of the applicants embodied the spirit of community and demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of the members in their community.”

Ms Ryan continued: “We were delighted to see many applications for the community fund and learn about the groups operating in our community and the work that they do. We look forward to seeing the positive changes that these projects will bring, and we would encourage any group or club who has not received funding this time to apply again in the future. Heartiest congratulations to all the lucky recipients!”
