The annual Darkness into Light fundraiser will take place tomorrow, Saturday, May 11.

The 5-kilometre walk fundraiser for Pieta House and proudly supported by Electric Ireland, will take place at 4:15am on Saturday morning.

With 14 communities across Mayo getting involved in the walk, there is sure to be a Darkness into Light event taking place near you.

In 2009 in the Phoenix Park in Dublin, 400 people set off on the inaugural Darkness Into Light 5km walk to raise funds for Pieta.

The event has grown year in year out, and now there are over 150,000 participants in Darkness Into Light each year.

Each year, the walk provides an opportunity for people to connect with their local community and bring hope to people who have been impacted by suicide.

Our team of dedicated volunteers, in Ireland and overseas, return each year to make the event a success and continuously raise awareness and hope in the global fight against suicide and self-harm.

Pieta is 85 percent funded by fundraising events like Darkness Into Light, and since its beginning, supporters of the event have helped Pieta raise over €36 million.
