RTÉ presenter and Mayo native Louise Duffy has called on the public to support the Big Toddle for Barnardos.

The half-mile sponsored walk raises vital funds each year for the children’s charity, which helps over 26,000 vulnerable children and families across Ireland.

The charity’s mission is to deliver services and work with families, communities, and their partners to help vulnerable children who are affected by adverse childhood experiences.

At least 580 crèche and pre-school age toddlers from across Mayo are due to take part in the fun half-mile walk - which is now in its twenty-first year.

“I have marvelled at the work of Barnardos for many years now, helping thousands of children in communities across Ireland have the childhood they deserve. So, I am delighted to join them as ambassador for the twenty-first Big Toddle,” said Ms Duffy.

“As a mum of two small girls, including one toddler, I think it’s such a wonderful way to get children helping children and creating fun childhood memories for all.”

Barnardos Director of Fundraising, Mary Gamble said: “For the last 21 years, we have seen first-hand the positive impact the support from the Barnardos Big Toddle has made. With the continued help of Ireland’s littlest fundraisers, we can reach even more vulnerable children who need us.”
