Local school children explored the magic of retail operations with Lidl Claremorris.
The Claremorris store welcomed over 120 primary school students from Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál Claremorris to its Kilcolman Road store to go behind the scenes of a busy retail operation.
Students were treated to an interactive tour by store manager, Andy Nolan, starting on the shop floor before moving to the famous Lidl bakery, the busy store warehouse delivery area, and the chilly freezer room.
Lidl Claremorris was one of the first Lidl stores to trial a DRS machine back in September 2021 and during the tour, students received a demo of Lidl’s DRS machines, seeing how plastic bottles and aluminium drinks containers are returned and recycled.

Speaking about the tour, Mr Nolan said it was ‘great’ to have the students in store.
“They were introduced to the concept of food safety, recycling and sustainability and how we operate the store each day to ensure our customers can shop our high-quality products and fresh produce at the best value prices. Giving school children first-hand learning about how food ends up on their plates is important to us, and we’d be delighted to welcome them back again soon,” he continued.
In addition to welcoming local schools for tours of its retail stores, Lidl Ireland is the only retailer in Ireland to offer a free educational experience ‘The Lidl Farm’ where school children get an insight into how everyday products grown and harvested locally by Lidl’s network of Irish suppliers make their way from the farm to the shelves of their local Lidl store.
Tours run on the Lidl Farm twice a year from March to June, and from September to October. To learn more and for schools to register an interest in visiting the Lidl Farm, please visit The Lidl Farm website.
