The Gardaí have confirmed that they and the emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision that occurred shortly before 2pm, this afternoon, Tuesday, March 26.
The collision, between a lorry and a car, occurred on the N17 in Castlegar, outside of Claremorris. The driver (female) and two young girls who were passengers in the car, were fatally injured. No other injuries have been reported.
The road remains closed at this time and traffic diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will conduct an examination of the scene. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

An Garda Síochána is aware that images of the crash scene are currently in circulation. They ask, that out of respect for the family, that these images are not shared by the public.
