Bonniconlon Drama Society is back this month with another top-class comedy production.

The Grove Ballroom in Bonniconlon is the place to be from March 22-24 as the society presents ‘Strictly for the Birds’.

The production's director, Barbara Ginley, said how new the play is does pose a challenge for the society, however, it is one they have ‘embraced’.

“I cannot say enough about how fantastic the crew have been from the Community Employment Scheme. They have worked hard to put together a superb brand-new set to really bring this story to life.  And our cast just tell it so well!” said Ginley.

The director continued: “We can’t wait to welcome our audiences back to The Grove once again for what I can promise you will be a brilliant show that will have you laughing all night long.”

The Sam Cree comedy centres on the Glover family.  Life is plodding along for Muriel Glover (played by Nikki Lawrence) and her husband, Herbie (Joe Neary), a pigeon-keeper, but things take an exciting turn when Muriel and her neighbour / best friend Lily Dodds (Evie Murphy) strike it lucky when they draw the favourite in the Irish Sweepstake.

'Strictly for the Birds' will take place March 22, 23, and 24.

Ms Ginley was keen to extend her thanks to the huge team which really brings the play from page to stage, calling the ethic ‘fantastic’ in the parish, and everyone in the community comes out to assist [them] in whatever way they can’.

The play comes after last year’s hugely successful ‘Separate Beds’, also written by Cree, saw three sell-out shows.

An evening of great entertainment is once again guaranteed at the Grove.

Doors open at 7.00 p.m. nightly, with curtain up at 8.00 p.m.
