Excitement in Belmullet as Mamma Mia comes to Our Lady's

The transition year students at the school are set to bring the hit musical to life

Mamma Mia at Our Lady's

The show kicks off tonight at 7.30pm

Our Lady's Secondary School in Belmullet proudly presents the Transition Year production of

‘Mamma Mia - The Musical’.

The run of shows kicks off tonight, Wednesday, and will continue through the week at 7.30pm in their school hall.

Under the guidance of musical director, Shauna Gallagher and stage directors, Holly McAnswer and Niamh Langan, this production promises to be a great night of entertainment.

Between the stunning set, the playful and credible acting, the varied and vivacious choreography, and the sweet singing of pure pop gold, the cast has set a very high bar with this production.

A radiant, white, flower-bedecked set adorned with fishnets, buoys and sun chairs immerses the audience on the Greek island where the incredulous plot unfolds.

Those in attendance will meet Sophie (played by the excellent Ella McGuire), the 21-year-old bride-to-be raised by a workaholic single mother - Donna (Anna Lennon) who longs to know who her father is.

After a trawl through her mother’s diaries, Sophie throws three cats among the pigeons when she invites her mother’s old flames (Darragh Gallagher, Pierce Lally and Alex Faulkner) to her wedding, thinking that one of them will surely be her father.

Rosie Mulligan (Emma Duffy) and Tanya Cresham-Lee (Roíse Hurst) are funny and sassy as Donna’s old bandmates. Likewise, Ali (Lena Holte), Lisa (Amber Griffin Flynn), Maire (Ciara Walsh), Georgia (Linda Munnelly) Pepper (Jack Turner) and Eddie (Leo Rueland) give plenty of smiles, mischief and energy in their minor roles.
