Funeral to take place of Westport woman Niamh Kelly

THE funeral of Westport woman Niamh Kelly is to take place this evening and tomorrow. 

Late of Fortlands, Castlebar, and formerly The Quay, Westport, Niamh passed away recently in the care of Mayo Hospice surrounded by her family following a long illness. She was 26. 

Niamh was a former student at the Westport’s Quay School and Sacred Heart School.

She also worked part-time in Kavanagh's Supervalu as a teenager and had returned to work there shortly before falling ill.

Speaking to The Mayo News this afternoon (Wednesday), Liam Campion, general manager of Kavanagh's Supervalu, described her ‘a lovely person’.

“She was a lovely person, a beautiful person and a great worker and great in everything that she did. You could only talk of the highest for her,” said Mr Campion.  

Niamh is predeceased by her niece Ava.

She will be reposing at Number 5 Celtic Court, Westport (F28 FD40) this evening from 5.00pm until 7.00pm.

Her Requiem Mass takes place tomorrow (Thursday August 24) at 11:00am in St Mary's Church, Westport with the funeral proceeding to Aughavale Cemetery.

Niamh will be sadly missed by her loving parents Don and Margaret, her boyfriend Liam McHugh, sisters Donna, Aoife and Avril, brothers Lee and Richard, brothers-in-law Donat Moloney, Vincent Kelly and Carl McEnroe, sisters-in-law Olivia and Penny, Niamh’s godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May she rest in peace.
