Championship blow for Mayo; Car windows smashed in break-ins; Top fashion prize for Ballina student
Kilcoyne set to miss Mayo’s opening championship game
Mayo will almost certainly be without Aidan Kilcoyne for their upcoming Connacht senior championship first round game against Sligo on June 5. The Knockmore attacker injured his knee in a club league match against Charlestown last Sunday and an initial examination suggests that he has torn his medial ligament. The projected recovery time for that type of injury is a minimum of four weeks.
Cars broken into in broad daylight in Claremorris and Knock
Gardaí in Claremorris are currently investigating two break-ins to cars which took place in broad daylight yesterday. The first break-in took place at lunchtime between 1 and 2 pm outside the swimming pool in Claremorris. A bag was taken from the car after one of its windows was smashed. The second break-in occurred at Knock National School between 3 and 4pm when once again a car window was smashed and a bag taken. Anyone with information should contact Claremorris gardaí on 094 9371222.
Ballina designer wins coveted ‘Dress of Your Dreams’ competition
Ballina fashion designer Aisling McDonnell has been announced as this year’s winner of the Gillette Venus Spa Breeze Dress of Your Dreams competition 2010. Aisling is a first year student at The Limerick School of Art and Design and beat four other finalists to win the overall title, which includes a cheque for €1,000 towards her fashion career. “I am absolutely thrilled to have won, I really hope this helps me on the way to becoming a top fashion designer,” said Aisling.
