Nifty250 Apr 22: Ballina bridge controversy ends; Knock flights back on track; Castlebar reach Cup final

No Mary Robinson bridge for Ballina; Knock Airport nearly back to full capacity; Westport downed in rugby battle with Castlebar
Ballina bridge will not be named after former President
Ballina’s town councillors last night decided to name the new state-of-the-art pedestrian bridge in the town ‘The Salmon Weir Bridge’ and end months of controversy in the process. After a public consultation process, it appeared that the preferred option was to name the bridge after Ballina native, and former President, Mary Robinson. However, councillors last night shot this down in a 5 to 2 vote, and in the end went for ‘The Salmon Weir Bridge’, after that name was proposed by Cllr Willie Nolan.
Knock flights schedule close to being back to normal

All Aer Lingus and bmi baby flights are scheduled to come and go as normal but Ryanair’s routes will not be running until tomorrow, although their flight to Faro this evening will run as normal, as will the Thomas Cook flight to Ibiza.

The scoreline was a lot tighter than the finishing one suggests as a late try from Tadhg Kirby sealed the win for the holders in the closing stages of a tight game.
