Claremorris teacher convicted of sexual abuse to be sentenced in May
A former Marist brother and primary school teacher was convicted by a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court jury yesterday of 35 charges of sexually abusing four young boys at a Sligo school over 40 years ago. Christopher Cosgrove, (66) with an address at Cloughreevagh, Ballyhaunis Road, Claremorris, had pleaded not guilty to 55 charges of indecent assault at the school on dates between July 1,1968 and June 30, 1977. Mr Cosgrove will be sentenced in May.
Top ten rating for Castlebar Subway Store
Castlebar businesswoman Kathleen O’ Sullivan has plenty of cause for celebration this week when the Subway store that she owns in the county was rated as one of the top ten best run Subway stores in Ireland. Kathleen, who operates the store on Mill Lane, was delighted with the news that the store was rated at number eight having competed against 108 other stores in the Republic of Ireland.
Headford too strong for Castlebar girls
St Joseph’s College, Castlebar went down by eight points to Presentation College, Headford yesterday in the Pat The Baker Connacht Colleges Ladies Football Senior A Semi-Final. ‘Pres’ won the game, played at the Tuam Stars pitch, by 4-12 to 3-7. The St Joseph’s goals came from Maria Walsh, Katie Kenny and Rebecca Conway.
