Michael ComminsDONEGAL singer Deirdre Bonner (pictured) is coming west for two shows over the next few weeks. Deirdre went down a treat when she played at the big music weekend in Claremorris back in November which attracted full houses over three nights.
Deirdre, who played support to Nanci Griffith on a number of her recent Irish shows, has been steadily winning new supporters all around the country. A teacher in Fintown, she has received widespread acclaim for her folk and country singing and her two albums reflect the extraordinary talents of this young Donegal artist.
Her versions of ‘Wild Flowers’, ‘The Tennessee Waltz’, ‘Some Days Are Diamonds’, and other well-known country songs fit easily with ‘Raglan Road’ and other classic Irish songs, as well as some songs in the Irish language.
Joining Deirdre on the tour is Malachi Cush from Tyrone who is a gifted entertainer and who also hosts shows on BBC Radio Ulster. They are in concert in the Coach House in Ballymote on Saturday, March 21 and you can see them in the Linenhall Theatre in Castlebar on Wednesday night, April 8.
