Maggie Gibbons sets out some thoughtful gift ideas that won’t break the bank this Christmas time.
It’s the thought that counts
Maggie Gibbons
Now that we are seriously in a recession, why not get back to what really matters and give some gifts this year that require a bit of thought? I’m not saying don’t buy for your family and friends. However, this year more than ever, please buy local, visit your local boutique, hairdresser, beauty salon and see what they have on offer. You may be pleasantly surprised! If you still need to give to a few people and are a bit strapped for cash why not consider some of the following ideas.
Precious gifts, for precious little
Child’s artwork, framed
Home baked bread/cake, include recipe
Gardening gloves with a plant or flower seeds
Photo album, hand decorated is even better
Homemade biscuits with instructions for baking
Fancy magazines tied together with a pretty ribbon
Note cards and book of stamps
Picture frame with photo included!
Handwritten copies of your favorite recipes
Prepaid long-distance phone card
Collage of special photos
Offer to babysit free of charge
Voucher for hairdo
Remember it’s not the amount of money you spend for a gift that matters the most, but that you cared enough to give something special.
