LIVE COMEDY A slew of stand-up comedians will be performing in Blouser’s, Westport, on May 24.
SOME of the best up-and-coming comedians in Ireland are set to entertain Westport later this month with the return of the Best In The West comedy night.
Following a successful pre-Christmas gig, Blouser’s pub will once again host Ireland’s popular travelling comedy club, Seomra Spraoi. The line-up will feature several new and returning acts for what promises to be another enjoyable night of fun and gags in west Mayo.
Local funny man Cillian MacGabhann, who will be performing at the gig, told The Mayo News that each act will bring new material to the west on Friday night, May 24.
“After two successfully-run shows last year, we plan to bring this show back as strong as ever,” said Cillian. “People are always crying out for comedy there [in Westport]. As it is quite an artsy, festive town, it’s always good to throw a bit of comedy into the mix.”
It is hoped that the show will return every few months and eventually become a staple of the calendar in the local performance scene.
Limerick-based acts Ken Lindsay, Sean Ryan and Robbie O’Donnell will be back on the ticket, alongside Best In The West debutants Emily Bradley and Alex George and Indian comic Dhruv Gandhi. The gig will be MC’d by Mick Peril, and there’ll be complimentary snacks for attendees.
The Best In The West comedy takes place from 8.30pm on Friday, May 24, in Blouser’s pub in Westport. Tickets can be purchased from Eventbrite for €10, while a limited number will be available on the door for €15.
