What is it? Yes, I know, it's been around for years but lots of people I know haven't heard of it! Delicious is “a social bookmarking service that allows users to tag, save, manage and share web pages.” Put simply, you can bookmark any site and then look at your bookmarks on any computer.
Benefits Instead of having different bookmarks on every computer you use, Delicious makes it easy to have a single set of bookmarks kept in sync between all the computers you use. Each bookmark has a name and as many tags as you want (for example “news sport lifestyle opinion politics Mayo Ireland” might describe mayonews.ie) making finding that elusive site you saved last year much easier. Delicious is also a social site - you can share your bookmarks with your friends (and the world if you like) and show them on your blog (visit mayonews.ie/delicious to see mine). As links are bookmarked by lots of people, they show up on delicious.com’s Fresh and Popular Bookmarks tabs and you can subscribe to any user’s bookmarks so that you see anything they think is interesting. You can also subscribe to any tag.
Is it any good? Yes, it’s simple, effective and obvious. The Firefox plugin is great too.
Got a site you’d like reviewed here? Email links@mayonews.ie and I’ll take a look. All sites will be added to our new account at delicious.com/themayonews
