MUSIC American traditional musicians on Anna and Elizabeth will perform at the Linenhall Arts Centre on November 8
HUGE BUZZ Anna and Elizabeth caused a stir on their UK and Ireland tour last year.
Spend a unique evening in the company of two of the most exciting young American traditional musicians on the contemporary scene when Anna and Elizabeth bring their distinctive music to the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Wednesday, November 8, at 8pm.
Creating a huge buzz of excitement on their UK and Ireland tour last year, Anna and Elizabeth are building a solid following with their captivating mix of ballads, foot-stomping dance tunes, stories and visual art.
Elizabeth Laprelle is one of the most sought-after ballad singers of her generation, while Anna Gevalt-Roberts is a mesmerising, talented multi-instrumentalist (fiddle, banjo and guitar) and singer, both sharing a desire to inspire people with the beautiful soul of Appalachian roots music.
The pair’s growing acclaim springs from a shared quartet of talents: both are historians, storytellers, visual artists, and gifted, intuitive musicians – in combination, a groundbreaking approach, including the lost art of ‘crankies’: cloth and cut-paper scrolls depicting scenes from ballads. A thoroughly engaging and refreshing evening of folk roots on the cards: pure, simple and true music.
