Celtic Flames are set to perform their music, song and dance show in Westport Town Hall Theatre this Saturday, August 12, at 8pm.
A 24-piece mixed-music group, the Galway-based Celtic Flames members range in ages from six to 60. Together, they play and perform an eclectic mix of traditional Irish music, song and dance fused with a more contemporary idiom. Formed originally as a ten-piece group in 2011, the Celtic Flames have grown to include top young talent emerging from the west of the country in recent years.
The group uses 15 different musical instruments to deliver a unique and vibrant sound. Their versatile world-champion dancers perform the full dynamic range of Irish dancing, including light, heavy, set, sean nós and twig dancing, while their diverse variety of singers perform a seductive hybrid of rousing traditional ballads and modern classics from artists like Adele, Bob Dylan and Mumford and Sons.
The atmospheric show is billed as an energetic night’s entertainment suitable for all ages, a moody blend of ancient and modern, of a rich musical tradition with a contemporary feel.
The group toured England in 2014 and played to full and enthusiastic audiences in beautiful theatres from Birmingham to Wakefield to London and have just returned from a tour of the United States in October 2016.
