MUSIC The Mayo Concert Orchestra close their season of of midsummers concerts with a gig in Ballintubber this Wednesday night
The Mayo Concert Orchestra closes the season with a Midsummer Concert in Ballintubber Abbey. The event takes place on this Wednesday, June 21, at 9pm and is in aid of Williams Syndrome.
Williams Syndrome is a rare condition affecting one in 20,000. Research confirms that people affected have a great affinity with music. Local man Jarlath Tynan is proof of this theory and will play a starring role in the concert, along with Mayo Youth Orchestra’s strings.
Jarlath’s enthusiasm for music is infectious. New musical director Kathy Fahey has nurtured the experience in Mayo Concert Orchestra with a fresh programme of popular music. The venue in Ballintubber also adds to the atmosphere acoustically and visually. All welcome to attend and donate to a worthy cause, while enjoying an entertaining evening of music.
It is worth mentioning that this local event helps to fund a national music workshop for people with Williams Syndrome. This generally runs in the summer months.
