If you loved the Strictly Come Dancing experience then this event is for you! You have the chance to dance again in Strictly Winners ’15 on April 10 in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar. This big-band night gives strictly participants the chance to raise more funds for their original chosen charity while getting a second chance to shine on the dance floor! This event is being organised by Lorraine Toner, John Geraghty, Seamus and Karen Devenay, who are taking part in the New York City Marathon on November 1 next for Western Care Association.
This unique event is open to previous Strictly Come Dancing participants from around the country. Twenty places will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with a minimum entry fee that will go to Western Care Association. The participants can then raise funds for their own cause, rehearse their dance routines and compete to win the top prize of €1,000 for their original charity.
If you have ever participated in a Strictly Come Dancing event previously you are now eligible to take part in this dance extravaganza. The 20 couples will battle it out for the coveted glitter ball and the €1,000 prize for their cause. The final three contestants will be judged solely on their dance ability. On registration the couple must chose two of the following dances: Cha Cha Cha, Waltz or Jive. On the night they will dance alongside the other couples on the Royal Theatre Dance Floor underneath spotlights and glitter balls! The scoring will be the same as their original event, 50 percent judges’ scores and 50 percent bucket collection on the night.
The Western Care Association will share in half of the bucket collection. Funds raised prior to the event remain with the participant’s charity. The final three couples will dance their show piece to music of their choice, submitted prior to the event and allow the judges to pick the winner based solely on dance ability. The winners will receive €1,000 for their own charity as well as a weekend away for each dancer in first place.
This will be a fabulous night’s entertainment with The Chris Barber Jazz and Blues Band, a richly-textured ten-piece group, blending brass, reeds, and electric guitar into a unique and unmistakable mix of blues and jazz. The band will play before and after the Strictly Winners ’15 contest.
