Belmullet is hosting a Halloween-themed WhistleBlast Family Festival from October 29 to 30, with lots of free events

FESTIVAL CAPERS?The Whistleblast Quartet are getting frighteningly festive, family style, this week in Belmullet.
Family festival in Belmullet blasts off
The Halloween-themed WhistleBlast Family Festival, which takes place around Belmullet from October 29 to 30, features lots of free events for adults and children.
Kicking off at 1.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday) with a sticky start, cake company Couverture’s highly acclaimed Chocolatier Margaret Lynch will be making dastardly desserts with anyone who would like to go along to the Broadhaven Bay Hotel.
The Broadhaven Bay Pool will be hosting mad-capped musical fun at 3pm, when Anne McCarthy, Arts Officer of Mayo Co Council, will be launching the WhistleBlast Quartet out on a boat for a floating performance as the Grand Opening.
Over the two days, Áras Inis Gluaire will host a recital by guest classical pianist Finghin Collins, who also give a free masterclass for aspiring musicians; performances by The Kieran Munnelly Trio, WhistleBlast Quartet, Belmullet Juniors; and a reading by writer Terry McDonagh. The Redmond Connelly Band will play in McDonnell’s Bar, and there will be an open mic night in Clann Lir.
With workshops aplenty, and a ghostly gastronomic feast also on the menu, the two-day offers something to suit every member of the family.
