Struck strike new EP


Castlebar rock band Struck have released a new EP ‘Wake up, Make Up’, featuring tracks inspired by their own coming-of-age story. Their second EP, it includes the single ‘Hey Richie, You Ain’t So Rich’.
Band members SeΡn, Ger and Jonathan say the new record shows how they have progressed as a band and matured as people. Containing expressive, lyrical, heartfelt and often provocative songs, the EP draws heavily on Struck members’ life experiences. Also detectable are the band’s pop-rock influences, with hints of Green Day, Paramore and HomeStar Runner showing through.
Playing everywhere from friends’ kitchens to the second-largest venue in Ireland, Struck have made a name for themselves as a band to watch, and their new EP reflects exactly who they want to be. Commenting on the standout single ‘Hey Richie, You Ain’t So Rich’, the band says it “means a lot to us, it’s about someone very close to us who moved away. Not only that, it’s about immigration in general as well.” The song paints a familiar picture of having to say goodbye to someone you are close to, for better or worse.
Struck will be on a headline tour in Ireland this July, with shows in Limerick, Castlebar, Dublin, Cork and Wexford. Struck was formed in 2007 in Castlebar. Since then, the three-piece outfit have gone on to support artists as varied as Scuba Dice, The Coronas, Director, Rubberbandits, Miracle Bell and Keywest. Their first EP, ‘Three Cheers for Lying’, was recorded in Manor Park Studios, Antrim, and released in 2010.
