Senakah back with new track
Rock band Senakah (formerly Seneca), fronted by 29-year-old Rob Hope from Breaffy, Castlebar, released their new digital single ‘Human Relations’ on February 17. The song is the first to be released from their forthcoming album of the same name. Produced by Noel Hogan (Cranberries, Mono Band) and remixed by Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy at the Production Suite, ‘Human Relations’ was recorded in the Bishop’s Palace, Limerick, is accompanied by an achingly funny video starring and written by Ben Morrison from MTV’s Punk’d and directed by Northern Irish director Darren Lee. Watch it and you’ll discover the perils of that smartphone addiction you might be fighting. It’s been four years since the band first burst onto the Irish music scene, and since then they have been hopping seamlessly from one ladder rung to the next, garnering accolades and an ever-expanding legion of fans along the way. The single, ‘Smile’ – the first to be released from their debut album ‘Sweeter than Bourbon’ – went straight in at No. 33 in the Irish charts when it was released in 2007, reaching a very respectable 27 and givng the band even more reason to smile. Another track from the album, ‘So Beautiful’, was selected for the ‘Ceol’ Seachtain Na Gaeilge album, which featured the cream of Irish talent, including Bell X1, The Corrs, Kíla and Paddy Casey. ‘Clarity’, the second single released from the album, reached No. 19 in the Irish singles charts. The band’s six-month 2009 tour of the US saw the band play 90 shows, with venues including the legendary Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood and The Boulder Theatre in Colorado, where they became the first ever international act to perform at the Bob Dylan Festival, endorsed by the man himself. They also teamed up and performed with keyboard legend Bernie Worrell of Talking Heads and Parliament. The band were lured back to these shores by the chance to record with the Cranberries’ guitarist Noel Hogan and having changed the spelling of their name to Senakah to avoid a trade mark conflict in the US they’re ready to rock the world again.
