Henry McGlade
Allbang ‘n’ Strummit, a four-piece rock/cover band from Carracastle just outside Charlestown, are playing in Cosy Joe’s Bar, Westport, on Friday night, January 27. Hailed as one of the best young rock bands playing a mix of modern greats and classic oldies, their repertoire includes songs by Johnny Cash, Kings Of Leon, The Killers, Snow Patrol, U2, Oasis and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The four members, all still at college, are SeΡn Quinn (lead guitar and vocals), Marty Owens (drums and vocals), Eamon Parsons (rhythm guitar) and Conor King (bass guitar). Close friends, the lads live within a three-mile radius of one another. Over the last few months Allbang ‘n’ Strummit have played in Charlestown, Tubbercurry, Donegal Town, Balla, Carrick On Shannon. Over the Christmas season, they played a number of great gigs in venues in Westport, including Cosy Joe’s and The Clock Tavern. The band have also started writing their own material, and are looking forward to going into Joe Dooney Studios in Carracastle to record for an album release later in 2012.
