To and fro between Scotland and Ireland
The Derry Boat, is a one-man show written and performed by acclaimed actor/writer Little John Nee. It tell the funny but poignant story of four generations of migration between Ireland and Scotland and celebrates the strong and vibrant links that have existed for generations between these two countries. The play’s title is taken from the Derry/Glasgow ferry on which emigrants and travellers sailed back and forth from Donegal to Glasgow up until the 1960s. Directed by Padraig Breathnach with original music by Fergal Gallagher, it was originally commissioned in 1998 by the Earagail Arts Festival as part of the Arts Council Scriptwriters Award. ‘The Derry Boat’ will be staged on Thursday, June 30 at 8pm in Ballina Arts Centre. Tickets cost €12/€10, and booking is advised.
