Independent Ireland leader Michael Collins to visit Mayo

As part of a nationwide tour, Michael Collins will come to Mayo to discuss with local groups and representatives of the community
The leader of Independent Ireland, TD Michael Collins, will visit Mayo tomorrow (Thursday, July 23), as part of a nationwide tour.
The Cork South-West TD will join Independent Ireland Louisburgh based councillor Chris Maxwell and meet with the Mayo community to hear directly about their challenges.
Ahead of his visit, Deputy Collins said that listening to local communities was his priority.
“This tour is about listening,” he said. “Our councillors are on the front line every day, dealing with the real issues affecting people in their communities. I want to hear directly from them and from the people they represent.”
With discussion expected to focus on the issues that matter most to local families, businesses and communities, Deputy Collins pointed out the Government’s failure to plan for growing communities.
“People deserve a Government that plans ahead rather than constantly reacting to crises that were entirely foreseeable,” he said. “Whether it is school places, school transport, housing or the rising cost of living, families are being let down time and again.”
This visit is the occasion for the Independent Ireland’s leader to discuss and understand the range of issues affecting Co Mayo.
