Celebrations will take place at Newport Resource Centre as the Western Care Association marks 60 years of service
Celebrations are set to take place in Mayo as the Western Care Association marks its 60th anniversary this year.
As part of the milestone, a special Mass will be held at the Newport Resource Centre on Tuesday, April 21 at 10am. The Mass will be celebrated by Fr Tod Nolan and is open to all members of the public.
The event has been organised to bring together staff, service users, families and supporters who have been involved with Western Care over the past six decades.
Local councillor Brendan Mulroy said the occasion will be an opportunity not only to celebrate the organisation’s achievements, but also to reconnect with the wider community.
“We are all looking forward to meeting you on the day,” he said. “It will be great to meet up with everyone involved with Western Care throughout the years and remember those that have left us.”

Following the Mass, refreshments will be served, offering attendees a chance to gather and reflect on the organisation’s long-standing contribution to supporting people with disabilities across Mayo.
Founded in 1966, the Western Care Association has played a central role in providing services and supports throughout the county, and the anniversary celebrations are expected to draw a strong turnout from across the community.
