Experts from the SEAI will meet Mayo homeowners at four free energy upgrade events across Mayo this April
Homeowners across Mayo are being encouraged to attend a series of free events this April aimed at helping them improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
The events, organised by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) in partnership with Sustainable Energy Communities, will offer practical advice and guidance on home energy upgrades.
The initiative forms part of a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of SEAI Home Energy Upgrade Grants and the range of supports now available under the Government’s National Residential Retrofit Plan 2026.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet local energy experts, contractors and finance providers, and learn how to access grants and low-cost loans to make their homes warmer, more energy efficient and more cost-effective to run.
According to organisers, improving home energy efficiency is a key step towards building more sustainable communities while also helping households reduce energy bills.

Orla Nic Suibhne, Border West Region mentor for SEAI Sustainable Energy Communities, said the events are designed to give homeowners clear, practical information.
“We are delighted to bring together our local sustainable energy communities, homeowners and trusted experts who can provide advice on grants and the next steps in making homes more energy efficient,” she said. “We’d encourage anyone considering an upgrade to come along and find out what supports are available.”
The events will begin in Westport, at the Westport Woods Hotel on April 9 from 4 pm to 7 pm.
This will be followed by an event in Ballina at the Great National Hotel on April 16, also running from 4 pm to 7 pm.
The third event will be held in Claremorris at the McWilliam Park Hotel on April 23 between 4 pm and 7 pm.
The final event in the series will take place in Castlebar at the TF Royal Hotel on April 30, again from 4 pm to 7 pm.

The events come shortly after new and enhanced grant supports were announced by Darragh O’Brien, aimed at making retrofitting more accessible and affordable for homeowners.
Organisers say the sessions will be particularly useful for those at the early stages of considering upgrades, as well as those ready to begin work.
With energy costs continuing to be a concern for many households, Mayo homeowners are being urged to take advantage of the free advice and support on offer.
