Irish Water respond to reports of north Mayo town water outage

Uisce Éireann has said they are responding to reports of a water outage in Ballina this morning.

The outage has been caused by a burst main and is impacting customers in Rathroeen, the Killala Road, Culleens, Breffni, Faranoo and surrounding areas in Ballina town.

Uisce Éireann are currently working to isolate the burst and begin repairs. To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.

Colette Scahill of Uisce Éireann assured affected customers that crews will work as quickly as possible to repair the burst and restore supply.

“We understand the inconvenience and frustration caused by repeated unplanned outages, and we wish to thank impacted customers for their patience as we work to restore supply,” said Colette.

“Unfortunately, often when repairs are made to one section of water main, it can place increased pressure on a nearby section and lead to a burst.”
