Mayo County Council is now inviting applications for financial assistance under the Historic Structures Fund 2026, a national initiative aimed at conserving and enhancing Ireland’s built heritage for the benefit of communities and the wider public.
The Historic Structures Fund, administered by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, offers targeted financial support for significant conservation and restoration projects nationwide.
The fund’s 2026 programme will focus on larger-scale enhancement, refurbishment, and reuse projects involving historic structures that demonstrate clear community, public, or residential benefit.

This year’s grants will range from €50,000 to €200,000, supporting projects that:
Build resilience in heritage properties to help them withstand the impacts of climate change.
The closing date for submission of applications is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026.
