It was a relatively quiet weekend in the Mayo soccer circles but there was a massive game at the bottom of the Super league table in which Kiltimagh/Knock came out victors.

Here, we’ll try and summarise the encounters that took place.

Super League

At the bottom of the table, Kiltimagh/Knock clashed with Ballyhaunis where Dylan Webb stole the show as the Kiltimagh/Knock attacker bagged four goals in a 5-2 win. That win means Kiltimagh/Knock move up the table on goal difference as they overtake a Manulla side who lost out in Ballyheane.

Dan Purcell’s brace and goals from Sean Rabbette, Nathan Reilly Doyle and an own goal from Andrew Shally saw the homeside run out comfortable 5-0 winners. Conn Rangers leapfrogged into third position as they secured a 3-1 victory over Ballinrobe. A brace from Evan Reape and a goal from Adam Gallagher was enough to get past Chris Mc Gauley’s Ballinrobe.

In the Semi Final stages, Castlebar Town came out 5-0 victors over Castlebar Celtic in a local clash. A hat trick from Ronan Barrett was crucial for Town’s win. In an eleven goal thriller, Westport United came away from Swinford with an 8-3 win. Dan Lambert impressed for Westport as he scored four in a high scoring cup game.

U17 Shield

Ballyglass secured a comfortable 6-1 win on their travels against Fahy Rovers as Killala got the better of Snugboro in a narrow 4-3 victory. Westport United B overcame Acholl Rovers 3-1 in a West Mayo meeting.
