Dr Eleanor Fitzgerald
Crossmolina-based GP Dr Eleanor Fitzgerald has been appointed the new Coroner for Mayo following an appointment by the Minister of Justice.
Dr Fitzgerald, who is the current Coroner for Mayo North will replace Swinford-based solicitor Pat O'Connor who retired from the position of Coroner for Mayo in October.
Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, TD, appointed Dr Fitzgerald as the Coroner for Mayo yesterday which will also see the Mayo North Coronial District merging with the District of Mayo.
Dr Fitzgerald recently served a term as President of the Coroners Society of Ireland having previously served as its Vice-President.
