The Board Directors and staff of Erris Credit Union at the launch of its Community Educational Fund
A MAYO Credit Union has launched a five-year community education fund totalling €50,000 to support local students at third level education.
The Directors and staff of Erris Credit Union based in Belmullet recently launched its five-year Community Educational Fund. Attending the launch, Chairperson of Erris Credit Union, Paddy Joe Deane said the Irish language phrase, 'Mól an óige is tiocfaidh sí', is the Board’s motivation for establishing the Community Educational Fund.
“Over the next five years, Erris Credit Union is very happy to be able to support 50 local Erris students, of all ages, who are on their educational journey,” he said.
This year, €10,000 is available to support ten lucky winning third level student credit union members with their educational expenses.
The selection process for 2024 will be via a random draw held during Erris Credit Union’s Annual General Meeting in January 2025.
Each of the five parishes in Erris, in the credit union’s geographic common bond area, will have two lucky winners, each winning €1,000.
To be in with a chance to win €1,000, simply become a member of Erris Credit Union; be enrolled and attending a recognised education or training course at a third level institution or an approved apprenticeship, with a minimum course Level 5 or greater on the National Framework of Qualifications; and apply and submit proof of third level student registration.
Application forms and the applicable terms and conditions are available in the credit union in Belmullet or download or apply directly at www.erriscreditunion.ie.
