Lough Mask Distillery in Tourmakeady is seeking investment for phase 3 of its development and growth plan

A WHISKEY distillery located in the heart of the Mayo Gaeltacht is inviting potential investors as it launches Phase 3 of its development and growth plan.

Located on the shores of Lough Mask near the village of Tourmakeady, the distillery is one of a small number of distilleries operating from a Gaeltacht area. Currently producing whiskey, gin and vodka, Lough Mask Distillery also welcomes visitors for tours throughout the year.

The distillery is now inviting potential investors to register now to receive a copy of the investment prospectus which outlines their development and growth plans for the next five years.

The Phase 2 investment round in 2021 was oversubscribed, with the distillery’s investment target reached within 36 hours of launching their prospectus. The money raised was invested in capital equipment to increase production output and grow their staff base to seven, most of whom live within the Gaeltacht area.

According to the directors the next investment phase will allow the distillery to almost double production and provide them with additional marketing funds to launch their whiskey at home and abroad in 2025 when their first casks mature.

Established in 2016, Lough Mask Distillery employs seven local staff to produce gin, vodka and whiskey. The distillery, located on the shores of Loch Measc in an old restored factory in Killateeaun, Tourmakeady, consists of a brewing and distilling hall, a whiskey cask maturation area, a bottling area and a visitor centre for tourists.

The stills are based on an ancient design inspired by the dawning of distilling, and took six to eight months to custom build and deliver. Their premier whiskey will be called Lough Mask, a Single Malt Whiskey still maturing. It will be twice distilled and aged in American and European oak barrels.

Potential investors and interested parties can register on the website www.loughmaskdistillery.com to receive a copy of the investment prospectus.
