Achill all set for 'One Hell of a Show'

Achill Musical and Dramatic Society take to the stage once again this weekend where they will be staging their brand new variety show, 'One Hell of a Show'.

The island-based musical society took a break from producing a musical for 2024 and instead have put their dramatic talents to good use with a variety show which showcases the wide ranging talents of its members.

One Hell of a Show will take place in Óstán Oileán Acla, Achill this Friday and Saturday night and as the title suggests it promises to be one hell of a show with spectacular live singing performances as well live comedy sketches and back by popular demand they will be recreating some classic tv ads and shows in their own unique Achill style.

Anyone who has attended Achill Musical and Dramatic Society's (AMDS) variety shows in the past will know they will be wowed by the standard of the singing on show and will also be guaranteed a good laugh and an enjoyable night out.

This year the crew of AMDS will be performing live comedy sketches on stage and these will include their own versions of the hugely popular tv comedies, the iconic Fawlty Towers and the recent Channel 4 hit, Derry Girls.

Achill Musical and Dramatic Society chairperson Anton McNulty explained that One Hell of a Show is a show which will be entertaining from start to finish with a wide variety of acts for all ages to enjoy.

“There will be up to 20 acts performing on each night with solo singers, duets and male and female groups performing and we will also be showing recorded reenactments of some classic ads and television shows with our own unique twist to them which will have the audience in stitches. We will also have a few surprises on the night with the audience taking an active part in the show.

“Our members have been rehearsing for this show for the last number of months and they are really looking forward to taking to the stage and putting on one hell of a show,” he explained.

The first show takes place this Friday, April 5 in Óstán Oileán Acla at 8pm followed by a second show the following night, Saturday, April 6 also at 8pm.

Subject to availability tickets will also be on sale in Óstán Oileán Acla before each show on Friday and Saturday.
