Westport Lions Club launched their 2024 Charity Ball Event last evening.
The launch took place in the Castlecourt Hotel, the same venue in which the ball will take place on Friday, March 22. This year's Charity Ball is in support of Childhood Cancer Ireland.
“Lions Clubs of Ireland have partnered with Childhood Cancer Ireland to help create awareness of the great work they’re doing in helping children’s journeys through cancer diagnosis and follow-up care,” said Westport Lions President, Des Ryan.
“Lions has been in Westport since 1987, 37 years; and we are delighted to help,” he continued.
CEO of Childhood Cancer Ireland, and parent of a survivor, Laura Cullinan will be speaking at the event.
Guests are in for an exciting evening of food, prizes, fashion, and dancing.
“It will be a night of great entertainment,” said the President.
The ball will kick off with a drinks' reception at 7pm on the night, followed by dinner at 8pm.
There will be plenty to come once the meal ends, with local businesses, Unit 7 and The Dressing Room, putting on a ‘his and hers’ fashion show.
“We are very thankful to Unit 7 and The Dressing Room in Westport for doing that for us,” said Mr Ryan.
An auction of ‘top prizes’ such as Premier League match tickets, and luxury stays will also take place on the night.
The evening will be tied up with music from ‘Street Wise’; which is sure to encourage an abundance of dancing.
The idea is ‘to make a great night out of it,’ the Westport President explained.
“We hope the people of Westport have a fun night, and it allows everyone to help the battle against cancer,” he concluded.
The organisation are ‘trying to sell corporate tables’ for companies or groups, however a limited number of individual tickets are also available, ‘very reasonably priced’ at €60.
