Treacherous road conditions today in Mayo
Mayo County Council has Wednesday evening asked drivers to please exercise caution this Thursday if making a journey on roads in the county tonight and tomorrow.
The council added with road temperatures remaining low, their gritting teams will be out this evening (February 7) and tomorrow morning (February 8).
The warning comes after Met Eireann issue their own warning for snow and ice which will come into effect in Mayo in the early hours of tomorrow morning (Thursday).
A band of rain will turn increasingly to sleet and snow according to Met Éireann, with the Status Yellow warning coming into effect at 2am and staying in place until 6pm.
