Road closed as four people injured in Mayo N5 crash

The Carracastle N5 road remains closed and four passengers are undergoing medical treatment at Mayo University Hospital, with two understood to be in serious condition

The collision occurred around 7.50pm last evening

Gardaí are investigating a road traffic collisionon the N5 in Carracastle. The three vehicle collision occurred yesterday evening at approximately 7.50pm.

Four occupants of one car involved in the accident were taken to Mayo University Hospital where they currently receiving medical treatment. 

Two of the passengers are said to be in a serious condition.

The occupants of the other vehicles did not require medical attention at the time of the incident.

Diversions are in place as the road is currently closed at Carracastle to allow for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct an examination of the scene. 

Investigations are ongoing. As of this Wednesday afternoon, according to An Garda Siochana, there is no update to the situation and the road diversion remains in place.
