The Clock in Westport, which suffered minor damage after a truck crashed into it (Pic: Conor McKeown)
There was a lucky escape in Westport town centre earlier today (Thursday) when a truck from a local construction company crashed into the town's iconic clock.
Known locally as the 'The Clock', the monument incurred minor damages after a truck passing through the town veered off the road and into the High Street landmark.
Nobody was injured during the incident, which occurred at approximately 10am.
The monument, which stands at the bottom of High Street and the corner of Bridge and Shop Streets, is a popular meeting spot for locals and visitors.
The Clock was erected in 1947 and replaced an old fountain which previously stood on the site.
