The cast of 'Young Frankenstein' that will be staged by Claremorris Musical Society for five nights in Claremorris Town Hall
CLAREMORRIS Musical Society is putting the finishing touches to their rehearsals for their presentation of the Broadway and West End hit musical comedy, ‘Young Frankenstein’, which they will stage over five nights in Claremorris Town Hall Theatre from Wednesday, January 31, to Sunday, February 4, at 8pm nightly.
This is the seventeenth production by the highly acclaimed CMS and is the follow-up to last year’s delightful production of the Dolly Parton classic ‘9 to 5’ that went down a storm with the audiences.
CMS has garnered various awards at countrywide level over the years at the Associations of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) annual ceremonies and they are blessed with a talented and experienced production team that features Donna Ruane as director, Deirdre Lee as musical director and Claudia O’Sullivan as choreographer. They have a great rapport with the cast and always manage to get the very best from the enthusiastic players.
New members
THIS year has seen CMS welcome some new members on board and they will play an active role in the new production.
The principal roles this year will be performed by David Alexander (Frederick Frankenstein), Mervyn Fahy (Igor) Nicole Scott (Inga), Vivienne Lee (Frau Blücher), Mary Dempsey (Elizabeth), Ger Scott (Inspector Kemp), Enda Mulchrone (The Monster) and Ronan Egan (Harold the Hermit), all of whom have a wealth of stage experience.
This musical was written by Mel Brooks (who received three Academy nominations for his hysterical Blazing Saddles movie in 1974) and features his hilarious take on the classic monster tale adventure in Transylvania.
‘Young Frankenstein’ follows the story of brilliant brain surgeon Frederick Frankenstein, the grandson of Dr Victor Frankenstein. When Frederick inherits his grandfather’s castle in Transylvania, he becomes drawn into the world of mad science and reanimation.
Claremorris Musical Society extends grateful thanks to the local shops, clubs and businesses that have sponsored and supported this production and others over the years. The committee features June Allison-Keane (chairperson), Sophia Sheridan (treasurer), Vivienne Lee (PRO), Rebecca Moriarty (secretary), David Alexander and Dee Hosty.
