Climate action

Funding is available for group projects aiming to make their community more sustainable.

Mayo County Council has been allocated  €609,000 for community/not-for-profit groups within the county, who are interested in developing projects and initiatives relating to the challenge of addressing climate change.

100% funding is available for groups to carry out capital projects to make their community less carbon intensive and more sustainable for the future.

To prepare community groups to apply Mayo County Council will host a number of information sessions on the fund in the coming weeks.

The sessions will be held in person on January 29 in Ballina, January 30 in Castlebar, and will be available online on February 7.

At the sessions attendees can learn about the various projects supported by the fund under five themes: Community Energy, Travel, Food and Waste, Shopping and Recycling, and Local Climate and Environmental Action.
