Mayo County Council team up with the Walls Project for Westport art murals

The Walls Project

Mayo County Council have teamed up with the Walls Project to create art murals around Westport.

Mayo County Council and the Walls Project have teamed up to work on art murals across Westport. The artists will be repainting Westport Skate Park, Westport Greenway and 'The Point' Swimming Area.

They are calling on locals from Westport to submit their ideas for the artwork. The Artists are particularly interested in ideas from users of the Skate park, the Town Greenway and young people in general. This collaborative effort between the organisation and the local people ensures that the designs resonate with the community, reflecting its unique character and spirit.

Best-known as the company behind the international street art festival Waterford Walls, The Walls Project is a creative agency that specialises in mural art. They work nationwide on engaging public art projects. Now, along with Mayo County Council, they are committed to inclusivity and community involvement.

A team of talented artists will be working to repaint these local areas, with the aim of not only beautifying these spaces, but also fostering a sense of pride and ownership among Westport’s community.

People are encouraged to share their ideas and provide valuable feedback to help shape the artistic vision of these public spaces. Ideas gathered will be used to inspire the final artwork in each location.
