The fair takes place in ATU Mayo this Saturday.
Secondary school students and their families are invited to attend the Mayo Careers Fair (Aonach Gairme Mhaigh Eo) at ATU Mayo, Castlebar, this Saturday, January 20.
The event will provide an opportunity for students to view the wide range of options they have to choose from after they leave second level education. Alternatively, the event also caters for mature learners who may be considering a return to education.
A number of guest speakers will be in attendance on the day, including Dr Brian Mooney, one of the country’s foremost guidance counsellors and education experts, as well as Eileen Keleghan from the Central Applications Office (CAO), who will bring students through their options.
At the first in-person fair they have held since 2020, there will be several information stands from leading universities and businesses nationwide, including University of Galway; ATU (Mayo, Galway, Sligo and Donegal), South West Mayo Development Company; and Mayo Credit Unions.
Due to the numerous exhibits at the fair, Chairperson of the Mayo Local Community Development Committee (LCDC), Pat Howley, says “the fair will provide an informative environment for everyone attending” . Howley adds that “people from outside the county are more than welcome to come along, we have had big attendances from neighbouring counties in previous years.”
The event will take place from 11am to 3pm and admission is free of charge.
