ONE person was seriously injured following a road traffic collision between Hollymount and Claremorris.
The two-vehicle collision occurred this morning near a crossroads on the Hollymount Road near Claremorris. Emergency services are currently at the scene.
A garda source told The Mayo News that the road is likely to remain closed 'for the foreseeable future'.
Driving conditions in the locality were treacherous this morning as a result of black ice.
This comes following a two-vehicle collision near McHale Engineering outside Ballinrobe yesterday (Thursday) which resulted in the hospitalisation of a tractor driver, who is currently receiving treatment in Beaumont Hospital.
