Ring receives progress report on crucial graveyard extension

Mayo Fine Gael TD Michael Ring.

Michael Ring, TD, has received an update from Mayo County Council regarding the extension to the graveyard in the north Mayo village of Ballycroy.

The current graveyard is near capacity and the situation is becoming increasing more urgent. The National Parks and Wildlife Service have made land available to the Council to facilitate the extension needed.

Mayo County Council has confirmed to Deputy Ring that they have invited tenders for the preparation of an AA Screening report, which is required for the Part 8 Planning Process.

It is hoped that this project will progress to Part 8 in April/May 2024 and subject to approval, it is anticipated that works will commence in the Autumn.

“I note the progress being made on this matter but I am calling on Mayo County Council to ensure that this project is brought to completion as soon as possible for the people of Ballycroy,” concluded Deputy Michael Ring.
