McDonnell's Pub in Belmullet has been put on the market
ONE of the most iconic pubs in Belmullet known to locals as the lobster pot has been put up for sale.
McDonnell's Bar located on Barrack Street in the centre of Belmullet which has been part of local life for over 80 years has been put up for sale and brought to the market by Westport-based auctioneers Sherry Fitzgerald Crowley.
Established by Michael and Elizabeth McDonnell in 1942, McDonnell's has been one of the most popular pubs in Belmullet and has been known locally as the lobster pot, because once you go in you can't get out.
The pub was inherited by Padraig Conroy, grandson of Michael and Elizabeth in 2002 who continued the thriving business with the pub being a favourite spot for locals and visitors alike.
McDonnell's is one of the most renowned pubs in Ireland and is legendary for its lively atmosphere, with popular live music gigs and events taking place in the bar and the rear courtyard.
Along with the pub, an adjoining property has also been put up for sale and consists of a reception room with a hallway to the left leading to two rooms and a hallway to the right leading to two more rooms.
